Vaughn Rasberry
Vaughn Rasberry (he/him) is Associate Professor of English and Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education at Stanford University. In the English Department, he teaches African Diaspora literature alongside philosophical theories of modernity. In VPGE, he strives to enhance diversity and equity, to strengthen the humanities, and to advocate for graduate education at Stanford and beyond. Active in the University’s IDEAL initiative, he is also a former director in the program in African and African American Studies and the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
He loves languages and has studied, forgotten, or relearned Spanish, French, German, and, most recently, Arabic and Swahili. In his spare time, he listens to hip hop, finds the best coffee in town, and practices languages on various apps.
A native of Los Angeles and an avid traveler, he lives in the Bay area with his wife and two children.
