Brian Cabral

Brian Cabral (he/él) is a Chicagoan, sociologist, and PhD candidate in the Race, Inequality, and Language in Education (RILE) program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Education. His scholarly inquiry lies at the intersection of race, place, language, and carcerality. His dissertation ethnographic fieldwork involves ongoing engagement with formerly incarcerated racialized youth, delving into the role that schooling and education play in the complicated politics of redemption and precarity they navigate across the Bay-Peninsula. Brian received his MA in Sociology from Stanford and a highest honors distinction for his BA in Sociology at Oberlin College, along with a minor in Rhetoric and Composition.
