Race, Policing, and Public Health Symposium

This symposium aims to highlight the important research being done across interdisciplinary fields on race and law enforcement and the public health impact of police violence against minority groups.

Join participants from academia, government, private, and non-profit sectors to generate new modes of thinking about these interconnected issues and to prepare a call to action for funding and research priorities. 

Resilience: How to Bounce Back: Deadline

Resilience is the ability to bounce back in the face of life’s challenges, whether these challenges are getting a poor test grade, breaking-up with a significant other, battling illness, or taking on any number of other tough events. In this course students study insights from the emerging field of resilience to learn about and practice the skills that allow them to bounce back more quickly and effectively from life’s setbacks.

Connect with a diverse group of graduate students to informally discuss "big questions."

Over lunch at 12 PM or dinner at 6 PM, 12 students and a faculty or staff facilitator choose complex, real-world questions to discuss over the course of multiple sessions.

TA Orientation 2016

Each year, on the Friday before classes begin in Autumn Quarter, VPTL presents a TA Orientation for all who will be TAing in the coming year.

2016 TA ORIENTATION: Friday, Sept. 23, 2016

This TA Orientation is the only one VPTL offers for the academic year, so be sure to attend no matter what quarter you'll be teaching. Experienced TAs are welcome, too. (Please also check with your department for departmental orientation/training.)

This event begins with breakfast at 7:30 and continues with talks and small workshops until 12:00 noon.
