Diversity Works: Cultivating Opportunities for Working with Allies

Graduate students from diverse backgrounds interact with individuals who, while we may consider them as members of ally communities, do not consistently act as allies. Participants will discuss examples of this challenge and possible methods to responding in constructive ways. Interactive activities include role-plays, scenarios, and vignettes in which participants can learn how to model “in the moment” response strategies.

#metoo: Navigating Sexual Harassment, Power Differentials, and Gender Inequity in Academic Medicine

This 90-minute talk and discussion will provide information on the historical evolution of women’s participation in the medical profession and evidence suggesting dysfunction in the pipeline to leadership in academic medicine. Dr. Jagsi will review research that she and others have led to investigate the nature and causes of gender inequities, including unconscious biases, gendered expectations of society, and overt discrimination and harassment.

Negotiation Matters: Application Deadline

Learn how to negotiate with colleagues, bosses, partners, friends, clients, and many others. 

Through a dynamic mix of theory, demonstration, and practice, this three-session workshop provides a solid foundation for more principled, persuasive, and successful negotiation in a variety of contexts.

Negotiation Matters will take place on the following three Wednesdays: Jan. 23, Jan. 30, & Feb. 6 from 4:30 - 7 PM. Due to the workshop's interactive format, full participation in all three sessions is required.

Negotiation and Influence Deadline

No matter how excellent your ideas, most significant achievements require the ability to communicate with and influence others. This workshop examines the theory, research, and practice of negotiation across a variety of settings. It provides multiple opportunities for students to develop negotiation skills through role-plays, exercises, and useful analytical frameworks.

Open and relevant to graduate students at any stage in any discpline or degree. Space is limited. Due to the workshop's highly interactive format and limited spots, full participation is required.
