HAI Monthly Community Building Reception - A Conversation about AI Governance

Join California Supreme Court Justice Cuéllar, who teaches the popular “Regulating AI” course at Stanford, Dan Ho, Associate Director of HAI and professor at the law school and political science, and Terah Lyons, the Founding Executive Director of the Partnership on AI, for a conversation on the law, regulation, and governance of AI!  The three will provide a range of perspectives on the promise, challenges, and directions for AI governance.

TA Orientation

Each quarter, we host a TA Orientation to help prepare graduate students to teach at Stanford. This event is highly recommended for all new TAs and is also open to returning TAs, postdocs, and other members of the campus community.

Negotiation Matters: Application Deadline

Learn how to negotiate with colleagues, bosses, partners, friends, clients, and many others. 

Through a dynamic mix of theory, demonstration, and practice, this two-session workshop provides a solid foundation for more principled, persuasive, and successful negotiation in a variety of contexts.

Negotiation Matters will take place on the following two Tuesdays: Feb. 4 & 11 from 4 - 8 PM. Due to the workshop's interactive format, full participation in both sessions is required.

Research as Praxis: Participatory Data Collection, Analysis, and Publishing

This workshop series is designed for Stanford graduate students interested in learning more about and developing their skills in community-engaged scholarship and community-based research. Invited speakers include leaders and practitioners across disciplinary fields. Sessions will be held over lunch. Please check the website for location confirmation: haas.stanford.edu.

Today's Technologies, Tomorrow's Humans

Alta CharoMODERATOR: H&S dean and 2017-18 CASBS fellow Debra SatzEmerging biomedical technologies – particularly those involving genome editing and human reproduction – carry the power to cure illness and alleviate suffering. They also pose challenges. They are expensive, often beyond the limits of insurance and most people’s pocketbooks. Some require complex equipment and facilities, which many countries don’t have.

Compelling Communication: Application Deadline

This two-session Compelling Communication workshop gives you the skills and practice you need for your next important presentation, such as a qualifying exam, conference presentation, research meeting, or job talk.

Compelling Communication will take place on the following two Mondays: Oct. 7 & 14 from 4:45 - 6:15 PM. Due to the workshop's interactive format, full participation in both sessions is required.
