Diversity Works: Cultivating Opportunities for Working with Allies

Graduate students from diverse backgrounds interact with individuals who, while we may consider them as members of ally communities, do not consistently act as allies. Participants will discuss examples of this challenge and possible methods to responding in constructive ways. Interactive activities include role-plays, scenarios, and vignettes in which participants can learn how to model “in the moment” response strategies.

Connecting with Leaders: Knowledge, Wisdom, and Community Building

The Connecting with Leaders program is an opportunity for students to connect with established leaders who will share their knowledge, wisdom, and sense of community. The event will present four distinguished leader fellows from the Distinguished Careers Institute in a panel discussion, followed by an informal Q&A, and a reception for networking opportunities. Apart from the four highlighted fellows, other select fellows will be in attendance eager to meet graduate students and build connections.
