Leaves of absence

Office of Community Standards and the Honor Code

The Office of Community Standards upholds Stanford’s Honor Code, which articulates the university's expectations of students and faculty in establishing and maintaining the highest standards in academic work, and the Fundamental Standard, which sets the standard of conduct for all members of the Stanford community.

Relationships Between Students and Outside Organizations

Summary of policies on the establishment of relationships between students and outside entities, such as private companies or non-profit organizations, as part or outside of the student's academic program at Stanford. Covers the open versus proprietary nature of the work, the ownership of intellectual property, and possible conflicts of commitment and interest.

Equal Employment and Non-discrimination

Stanford Administrative Guide 1.7.4 articulates the university's policy on equal employment opportunity, non-discrimination, and affirmative action. This policy applies to all faculty, staff and others who participate in Stanford programs and activities including Stanford affiliates providing services to Stanford such as mentors and volunteers, and other third parties, such as contractors and vendors. Its application includes Stanford programs and activities both on and off-campus, including overseas programs. The SHARE Title IX and Title VI Office is the University’s central resource for redressing and preventing sexual harassment, violence, and harassment/discrimination issues experienced by all Stanford community members. Visit the SHARE Title IX and Title VI office for resources and support.
