Sofia Mantilla Salas

Sofia Mantilla Salas (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in Geological Sciences at the Stanford Center for Earth Resources Forecasting. She received a BA in Geology at the National University of Colombia. She is currently researching Carbon Capture and Storage as a tool to reach the goals of energy transition. She is particularly interested in the intersection of the technological, political, and societal challenges that this technology entails. She has volunteered with different associations organizing events and giving workshops with communities in several regions of Colombia to contribute to the country's geoscientific community and encourage the sustainable development of areas impacted by the energy industry. Outside of research, she enjoys dancing, hiking, and hanging out with friends.
