Sean Peters is a PhD candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford. His research focuses on using ambient radio noise, such as the Sun, as a signal to measure the thickness of ice sheets. The objective is to develop a low-resource radar that monitors glaciers by exploiting the Sun’s radio signals, instead of transmitting its own source for echo detection. While at Stanford, he has worked to enhance the diversity and inclusion of graduate education by serving as a mentor for the Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE) program, El Centro Chicano y Latino’s Frosh Scholars, and Engineering Diversity Programs. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rice University.
