PET (positron emission tomography) is a unique tool for molecular imaging because it allows us to see how biological processes are happening in real time inside the body. I develop new signal processing methods that expand PET’s capabilities, enabling it to image multiple processes at once using different radioactive tracers. Traditional PET can only track one tracer at a time, but my “multiplexed” approach provides a more complete picture of complex conditions like cancer and traumatic brain injury. This research could lead to earlier diagnoses, better treatment monitoring, and a deeper understanding of disease.
