Sakaria “Sai” Auelua-Toomey

Sai is a PhD candidate in Social Psychology. Sai’s research focuses on the role meta-beliefs play in reinforcing racial inequities. In one line of research, he investigates the role racial preferences play in shaping romantic interracial relationships. How does one respond upon learning that people prefer one’s own racial group (or that people do not prefer one’s own racial group)? How does this information determine who they pursue romantically? He received his AA from the Honolulu Community College and his BA from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. In his free time, he enjoys boxing and spearfishing.
