Rebecca Carey is a doctoral candidate in Psychology at Stanford University. Her broad interest is in culture and the role of ideas, institutions, and interactions in shaping psychological outcomes. For her dissertation, Rebecca explores how the meaning and function of relationships differ across sociocultural contexts. Specifically, she focuses on the role of loyalty in working class contexts, and seeks to understand how close and reliable relationships can serve as important resources for people in these contexts. Rebecca hopes to conduct research that can be applied to real-world issues, such as first-generation college transitions and health and well-being disparities.
