Magdalena Warren

Magdalena Warren is an NSF fellow and PhD candidate in Biology advised by Tadashi Fukami. Magdalena is interested in community dynamics and the effects of multiple community states. Currently, Magdalena is working with local farmers to investigate the impacts of agricultural intensity on the composition and function of the gut microbiome of honeybees. She is also building an integrated population model to help guide the restoration of the Hakalau forest in Hawaii. As a first-generation/low-income (FLI) Mexican American woman, Magdalena enjoys mentoring other FLI students, participating in science communication, reading sci-fi novels, and going to the beach whenever possible.
