Kelly Boles

Kelly L. Boles is a mathematics and computer science educator, learning scientist, data scientist, and PhD candidate at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Motivated by her secondary teaching experience in rural Appalachia, her research examines how community contexts shape both students’ opportunities to learn as well as teachers’ professional learning opportunities. Kelly’s dissertation uses spatial data analysis techniques and a socioecological lens to consider how advanced secondary STEM learning opportunities for teachers and students vary across communities in the U.S. Outside of research, she is a classically trained flutist, hobby web designer, and genetic genealogist.
