Katrina Wisdom is a doctoral candidate in the Stanford Mechanical Engineering Department. Her research interests include biomechanics, mechanobiology, biophysics, and biomaterials. For her dissertation work, Katrina has designed a novel, 3D biomaterials system to study how complex mechanical properties of the tumor microenvironment can promote, or suppress, breast cancer cell invasion into 3D tissues. Her approach involves using time-lapse, confocal microscopy and inhibiting key force-sensing biochemical pathways. She aims to propose new targets for therapeutic intervention.
