Janelle Siliezar-Doyle
Janelle (she/her) is a 4th year PhD student in the Neurosciences Program. She works in the lab of Dr. Vivianne Tawfik, where she aims to understand how non-neuronal cells (like astrocytes and microglia, collectively called glia) contribute to the development and maintenance of chronic pain disorders. She is passionate about doing clinically-informed basic science research that takes patients into consideration at every step.
After her PhD, Janelle hopes to pursue a postdoctoral position and eventually work as a professor at a community college or 4-year teaching-focused institution. She is a proud alumna of California State University San Bernardino and she hopes to one day provide the same influential mentorship that she received in her early-science years. Outside of lab and teaching, Janelle enjoys running, embroidering, and reading.
