Gregory Zaborski

Gregory is a PhD candidate in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering and a Pat Tillman Scholar and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. His research focuses on artificial lattice engineering and atomic and electronic structural characterization of van der Waals matter, which are pivotal in advancing our understanding and utilization of quantum materials in viable technologies. To date, he has developed novel techniques and scientific equipment, which enable precise engineering of large-area van der Waals superlattices with superb interface quality. Gregory is also a transfer student from Saddleback Community College, where he earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of California, Berkeley as a PGA-Chevron Langley Scholar. Prior to community college he served as a non-commissioned officer in the Marine Corps infantry. He is also part of the inaugural class of the School of Engineering Dean’s Graduate Student Advisory Council.
