Chris Golde works at BEAM, Stanford Career Education, as a career coach working with PhD students and Postdoctoral Scholars. She has been a consultant for VPGE, working with the DARE doctoral fellowship program, since 2015. Prior to that, she was on the VPGE staff as Associate Vice Provost (2007-15). She is a nationally recognized expert on graduate education—speaking and publishing on the graduate student experience, student attrition, doctoral pedagogies, and graduate education reform. Prior to VPGE, she was a Senior Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (2001-2006) and a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1996-2001). She holds a PhD in education and an MA in sociology, both from Stanford University.
