Climate change is fundamentally altering the life of every human being. Intensifying air pollution and rising temperatures are increasing heart attacks and strokes around the globe while fiercer seasonal wildfires threaten the cardiopulmonary wellbeing of affected populations. With the expanding accessibility of digital data, we have new opportunities to explore the links between human and planetary health. As a practicing cardiologist and PhD student in Epidemiology, I conduct research that connects geographic information services, cardiac imaging, and hospital utilization records to discover measurable health impacts of climate change-mediated natural hazards. I aim to bridge environmental studies, data science, and cardiovascular epidemiology to protect the heart health of our warming world.
