Amy Johnson

Amy Johnson (she/her) is a 5th year PhD candidate in Sociology. Her dissertation research uses computational methods to analyze trends in discourse and language around mental health in the news media and on social media. Broadly, her research aims to understand how cultural change influences individual decision- and sense-making. Her primary teaching interest is the equitable and inclusive instruction of quantitative methods and statistical software. Beyond methods, she has taught courses on the social determinants of health, well-being, and mental health, as well as effective teaching and pedagogy. Beyond her research and teaching, Amy also works as a consultant at the Center for Teaching and Learning and Stanford Library’s Software and Services for Data Science.
