Alastair Su
Alastair is a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department. He specializes in U.S. diplomatic, intellectual and economic history. His research deals with the political economy of the global opium trade during the 19th century, examining the intersection between drugs, immigration and the formation of capital markets. He is fascinated by how governments imagine, legislate and police the distinction between licit and illicit commerce. He is passionate about helping the past come alive in the classroom and looks forward to participating in the PFP program.
