Complete These As Soon As Possible
The items below should be completed as soon as possible to ensure a smooth and successful transition into your graduate program.
- Respond to the offer of admission. If you are receiving department financial aid, the deadline to respond to the offer of admission is April 15.
- Upload a photo for your Stanford ID Card.
- Maintain/update mailing address in Axess.
- Apply for housing. To request disability/health housing accommodations, register with the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) and apply for housing (see deadlines below).
- Review entrance health requirement information from Vaden Health Services.
- International Students: Review information available by the Bechtel International Center.
- Non-U.S. citizens or U.S. registered permanent residents should submit I-20 or DS-2019 requests.
- I-20 and DS-2019 requests for new students will not be possible to submit until March.
- You will receive an invitation to submit your I-20/DS-2019 request as soon as possible.
Important Upcoming Items for New Graduate Students

April
- Deadline to register with the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) to request disability/medical housing accommodations.
May
- Housing application deadline for first-round assignments.
July
- Housing application deadline for second-round assignments.
- Housing rolling assignments (ongoing from July to October).
August
- Entrance health requirement deadline, submitted to Vaden Health Center.
- English Placement Test for international students who have the item listed on their To Do list in Axess.
September
- Autumn quarter enrollment opens on Axess.
- Check out Student Services and the academic calendar for the most current information regarding enrollment groups.
- Incoming new international students will not be able to enroll until after arriving on campus.
- Sign the Patent and Copyright Agreement on Axess prior to enrollment.
- Deadline to acknowledge or waive Cardinal Care health insurance coverage for new students starting in autumn quarter.
- New Graduate Student Orientation hosted by the Graduate Life Office (GLO).
- Previous years' schedules included a Grad 101 panel, library tours, Speed Friending, President's Reception, American Football 101, lunch, and information events.
- New International Graduate Student Orientation organized by the Bechtel International Center.
- First day of classes.
Payment Deadlines
Stanford uses electronic billing and payment services. Charges for tuition, room, and board are billed prior to the beginning of each academic quarter, and are due as indicated on the bill, generally on the 15th of the following month. All other charges are billed monthly as they are incurred. Information about these services and university payment deadlines is available from Student Services.
