HARTLEY CONFERENCE CENTER, MITCHELL EARTH SCIENCES BUILDING

Engaging with faculty mentors can be challenging, because you both come with expectations that are often hidden and not explicitly discussed.  This can impact critical issues in communication, research directions, authorship, and so on.  Through this workshop, you will   gain skills and confidence to engage pro-actively with faculty.

Participants are also encouraged to complete this questionnaire beforehand.  The overall results will be shared to help you calibrate your own expectations with fellow grad students.

Steve Lee, PhD, assistant dean of diversity and inclusion, Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences, and master facilitator, the National Research Mentoring Network.

This interactive workshop will be followed by refreshments and networking.

Fellows Forum is designed for early-stage doctoral students but is open to all enrolled graduate students. Space is limited. If over-enrolled, priority will be given to SGF and NSF Fellows.
