Student-Led Environmental Justice in Engineering Colloquium
The Environmental Justice in Engineering Colloquium is a student-led initiative to center careers and speakers in equity centered engineering practice (RSVP HERE). This two-part series is hosted by the Civil & Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Equity Group and co-sponsored by the Civil & Environmental Engineering Anti-Racism Working Group, the American Society for Civil Engineers Stanford Chapter, and Engineers for a Sustainable World.
The Equity & Engineering Practice Speaker Panel will discuss the importance of environmental justice in the context of engineering practice, with a particular emphasis on Civil & Environmental Engineering. The event will showcase perspectives on social position and the epistemological bases for work in environmental engineering, community organizing in engineering work, and the speakers’ experience with bringing engineers into justice work. Speakers include Khalid Kadir, Lecturer at UC Berkeley, Emma Robbins, Navajo Project Director at DIGDEEP Water, and Anthony Kinslow, Lecturer at Stanford and CEO of Gemini Energy Solutions.
