Educational research shows that creating inclusive and equitable learning environments promotes learning for all students. In the absence of face-to-face interactions, and in the presence of differential access to technologies and other learning support systems, it is imperative for instructors to implement strategies for creating inclusion and equity online.
In this workshop, you will:
- Reflect on features that make learning environments inclusive and equitable
- Identify and commit to teaching strategies for creating inclusion and equity online
- Collaboratively troubleshoot potential challenges for implementing I&E strategies online
Prerequisite: We ask that instructors who register for this workshop have facility with basic features of Zoom and Canvas, such as creating and starting a Zoom meeting through Canvas, screen sharing, creating breakout rooms, and using Chat to contribute verbal and nonverbal feedback. We will not be addressing these ‘how-to’s’ in the workshop. If you would like guidance in basic Zoom and Canvas functionality, please visit: https://padlet.com/stanforduniversity/teachanywhere
