Graduate Recruitment and Diversity Day (GRAD Day)

GRAD Day is a chance for prospective students from diverse backgrounds to visit campus and decide if Stanford is for them.  Selected admitted students and promising applicants from the schools of Humanities & Sciences, Engineering, and Earth Sciences will be invited in January and early February, 2009.

GRAD Day will be Monday, March 9, 2009.

We want prospective students to see that Stanford offers a combination of commitment, resources, and community that allow students to thrive. We hope the activities will help prospective students to make an informed choice about graduate school.

The agenda for the day includes:

  • Meetings with faculty of interest to each student
  • Breakfast and lunch with graduate students, faculty and staff (by school)
  • Campus tours and special workshops
  • Talk with Stanford university administrators including the University President and Provost

The highlight of the day is an elegant reception and dinner at the Faculty Club, hosted by Provost John Etchemendy and Vice Provost for Graduate Education Patricia Gumport.

Participants can also spend the weekend. Additional time on campus allows you to:

  • Tour campus housing
  • Stay with a current student
  • Explore the San Francisco Bay Area
