Writing Effective Project Statements
for DDRO AWARDS and GRO FUNDS Applicants:

A Hands-on Workshop for Graduate Students

 

This workshop will give you guidance and feedback on how to write an effective Project Statement for the Diversity Dissertation Research Opportunity (DDRO) and Graduate Research Opportunity (GRO) Grants.

During this workshop, you learn how to improve your own work. you will:

  • Get tips on effectively presenting your research in the required Project Summary
  • Work on avoiding some of the common pitfalls in writing applications
  • Learn how to better critique your own writing
  • Receive specific feedback on your initial draft from fellow participants
  • Practice critically reading and giving feedback to peers.

This will help you to write effective proposals, now and in the future.

        Lunch will be provided.

WHERE:  VPGE Conference Room, Building 310,
         behind Memorial Church

FACILITATOR:  Margo Horn, PhD
         Lecturer, Department of History

Dr. Horn will not provide specific feedback on essays. Instead, she will help you learn how to improve your own work.

You must provide a draft of your Project Summary to the facilitator in advance of the workshop. Email your summary directly to Margo Horn by no later than Sunday, March 17, 5pm.
