Funding Graduate Study

Finances are a concern for most graduate students and their families. There is no denying that graduate education at Stanford is expensive. This section of our web site provides some information about expenses and sources of funding.

The first introduction to financial realities at Stanford is provided in the booklet "A Guide for New Graduate Students" provided by the Office of the Registrar for all newly-admitted students. This booklet explains estimated living and educational expenses, student loan programs, the university bill, and methods for paying it.

• The Student Services Center is a one-stop shop (on the second floor of Tresidder Union for question or problems concerning your university bill.
• The Financial Aid Office includes information particularly for graduate students, particularly for student loans.
• The Stanford Controller's Office maintain a site with information for students about taxes, student employment and travel reimbursement.
