University-Wide Graduate Academic Policy

University-level academic policies are set by the Academic Senate and the Committee on Graduate Studies (C-GS). VPGE recommends, promulgates and interprets University policies related to graduate education and graduate student support. University-wide policies are supplemented by school and departmental policies and procedures.

Stanford University Bulletin

Academic policies and degree requirements for all graduate degrees are outlined in the Bulletin.

University Forms

Most forms are found online through the University registrar's office.

Graduate Academic Policy & Procedure (GAP) Manual

The GAP Manual brings together into one source University-wide graduate academic policies and procedures. The manual includes policy explanation and implementation procedures. Written primarily for staff, faculty and students may also find this helpful. (Note: The Graduate Degree Progress Handbook was last published in 1995.  The updated version, the GAP manual, is not yet completed.)
